Nur M Noor

GARMENT Product Developer & Fashion Consultant

With nearly two decades of expertise in garment architecture and silhouette engineering, Nur is a Product Developer specialised in technical garment construction dedicated to bridging the gap between creative vision and industrial reality. Her design philosophy is heavily influenced by the “architects” of fashion—Aitor Throup, Yohji Yamamoto, and Rei Kawakubo—reflecting an obsession with structural logic and the garment as a technical object.

Her foundation was built under the tutelage of a Master Patternmaker at SML Fashion Academy, where she mastered the traditional rigors of garment design and construction. This was followed by a Diploma in Fashion Design from UiTM, during and after which she served as an assistant for Nurita Harith.

Her early aptitude for technical innovation was cemented when her final year project, Urban Fixture, was selected by Disney Malaysia. Featuring advanced LED threading—a foray into wearable tech that was ahead of its time in the local landscape—the collection was featured in the launch promo for Disney’s Tron: Legacy.

A seasoned solopreneur, Nur has successfully navigated the entire brand lifecycle. She founded ZVSH, one of the earliest labels featured on FashionValet and worn by Malaysian icons such as Fazura, Aishah Sinclair, and Vivy Yusof. Her subsequent venture, NULL AND SUBTLE, showcased at Borneo Fashion Week 2017 and achieved commercial scale through e-retailer Picksum and strategic wholesale distribution to independent retailers.

Her technical versatility spans from the precision of Melbourne’s Concesa Bridal, where she led patternmaking and production, to the independent music scene, engineering custom costumes for artists like Massacre Conspiracy, Enterprise, and Reset to Zilch. Today, she operates dsgnur, where she consults for emerging labels and teaches technical construction, providing the “Technical DNA” required to turn conceptual sketches into perfectly engineered physical products.
